The hospital was selected as a designated unit for COVID-19 treatment on April 3, as part of the wider response to the sudden outbreak in Shanghai.

By June 16, 660 medical staff from five medical teams from all over the country and nearly 1,000 medical workers in the hospital had treated a total of 2,093 COVID-19 patients.

To return to normal operations, the hospital conducted a thorough disinfection and adequate preparations.

Regular patients are understood to have come to the hospital for routine services earlier in the week, with some returning to the facility for post-surgery checks.
