Chinese construction machinery giant Sany Group Co Ltd resumed production on April 18 at its plant in the Lin-gang Special Area – located in East China's Shanghai – after the city's authorities issued guidelines to restore manufacturing following a citywide lockdown due to COVID-19.

Lu Yunshuai, administrative director of Shanghai Sany, said more than 2,100 employees had been living in the plant since March 27 and the company had reserved more than one month's living supplies for the staff members in advance.

In the meantime, four working groups have been set up to guarantee nucleic acid testing, materials supplies, medical treatment, production and the daily life of employees in the plant.

According to Lu, with the help of the telecommuting system, research and development work is proceeding normally and the logistics are gradually resuming.

"The company's international business has not been affected and orders can be delivered on time, while production for domestic orders has returned to about 30 percent and is expected to return to normal levels within this week," Lu added.
