Lin-gang throngs with tourists during Spring Festival break
With its rapid development of tourism and improvement of urban services, the Lin-gang Special Area – located on the coast of the East China Sea – has become a popular travel destination in the city of Shanghai.
No surprise then, that the main urban area and attractions in Lin-gang proved to be a magnet for tourists during the recent seven-day Spring Festival holiday, receiving some 680,116 visits from Jan 31 to Feb 6. That marked a year-on-year increase of 74.12 percent, according to the latest statistics.
The number of tourists visiting Lin-gang's attractions was 146,741, up 6.45 percent compared with the same period last year.
The number of visitors to key cultural places was nearly 8,000. A total of 842 films were shown in its cinemas, with 33,127 viewers and a total ticket revenue of over 2 million yuan ($314,396).
Shopping malls in Lin-gang are also flourishing. Statistics showed that during the Spring Festival holiday, seven commercial complexes in Lin-gang brought in total revenue of 45.87 million yuan and handled 514,500 people.
