The innovations in taxation administration in the Lin-gang Special Area – located in East China's Shanghai – is benefitting all the companies that are resident there, by providing better tax services and lowering tax costs.

"Nearly 1,500 companies choose to base themselves in Lin-gang Special Area each month, which requires us to provide better tax services," said Wu Jian, member of the Party Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Tax Service, State Taxation Administration.

It is understood that the Lin-gang Special Area's tax bureau and the market supervision administration will ask for the enterprises' information before registering them, to ensure they enjoy the preferential tax policies.

During the 2020 annual tax settlement and payment period, the bureau evaluated about 400 items of data from more than 100 high-tech enterprises, giving tax suggestions to 10 of them.

The branch offices registered in the Lin-gang Special Area that reach a certain scale with good credit are now being allowed to independently obtain and use invoices. This policy is said to give companies fast-track channels to start up and develop in the Lin-gang Special Area.

In addition, the area has reportedly promoted a public services platform for value-added tax e-invoices for companies to acquire, print, deliver and manage them.

"You only need to send the link to the customer and they can fill it in and download it by themselves, which is more convenient", said Zhang Ruqin, in the accounts department of resident company Shanghai Yingqi E-Commerce Ltd, which trades in infant milk powder.
