Mettler Toledo Group, a Zurich-based manufacturer and service provider of precision instruments, signed a strategic cooperative agreement with the Lin-gang Special Area Administration to open its Chinese headquarters in Yangshan Free Trade Zone on Dec 7.

The headquarters will be responsible for the investment, operation and supply chain management of the group in China. Its businesses cover laboratories, process weighing, product testing, and industrial weighing products.

Mettler Toledo Group, with a history of 120 years, has sales offices in 40 countries and regions. At present, it has 14 branches in China, and its sales volume in the country exceeded 5.4 billion yuan ($851 million) last year.

Mettler Toledo's headquarters in Yangshan FTZ is the first wholly foreign-owned Chinese headquarters in the area. As the only special bonded zone among the 163 customs special supervision zones in China, Yangshan FTZ is able to provide a high-quality business environment and special functions for the headquarters of multinational companies.

All the trade centers, order management centers and settlement centers for Mettler Toledo's China operations will be set up in the zone, where the company will carry out offshore trade, bonded maintenance and other related business.
