The first Fiber to the Room (FTTR) smart house community in Shanghai was launched in the Lin-gang Special Area on Nov 30.

The new community has already completed the construction of FTTR cabling systems with broadband coverage for all and a fiber rate of 1000Mbit/s. The No 10 building is the pilot building.

Check-in users no longer need to lay optical network lines and can experience immersive FTTR smart house networks by using personalized discount packages launched by operators.

In April, the Lin-gang Special Area, Office of the Shanghai Municipal Cyberspace Affairs Commission, Shanghai Communications Administration, China Telecom, China Unicom, China Mobile, Huawei and other units announced a white book on Shanghai residential and commercial buildings FTTR optical network cabling. This is an important step toward implementing the city's three-year plan (2021-23) to build a two-gigabit broadband city.

Next, the FTTR smart house community model will be promoted throughout all of Lin-gang Special Area and Shanghai. Innovative technologies such as Cloud VR and 8K ultra HD video will be incubated and telecommunications enterprises will be directed to announce related services for communities equipped with FTTR.
