A science park currently being constructed in the Lin-gang Special Area is widely expected to boost the development momentum of the World Laureates Association Science Community, a group of leading international scientists located there.

The park will be positioned at the heart of the community – some 14.3 hectares in size – and is designed to make scientists feel at home in the area, according to a blueprint released on Nov 2 at a prestigious international summit called the 4th World Laureates Forum that was held in the special area.

The new science park is expected to be completed next year, before the staging of the 5th WLF.

A bridge, built in the shape of a Mobius strip to showcase concepts about the sciences, art and the environment, will link different buildings in the community. A Mobius loop or strip is created by taking a two-sided strip of a material such as paper, giving it a half-twist and attaching the ends, resulting in a continuous loop with only one side and one edge.

From a bird's eye perspective, the new building is expected to resemble a giant UFO flying above grassy hills.

Meanwhile, the park will feature a zero-carbon shelter backed by green technology. It will produce excess electricity to help supply electric vehicles.

Additionally, there will be a Jiangnan-style classic garden, featuring pavilions and pagodas along a lotus pond, providing an interesting contrast to complement the bridge.
