The Shanghai Lingang Notary Public Office launched an online mini program on its official WeChat account on Aug 30 – and has reportedly accepted 641 cases to date.

Customers can carry out a series of operations and conduct application procedures – such as uploading photos and materials and making notarization fee payments – with the online program.

"At present, there are a total of 120 pilot items on the online service, which basically cover all notary requirements for factual certificates and licenses with simple legal relations, clear facts and no disputes," said Ding Wen, director of the Shanghai Lingang Notary Public Office.

He also added that due to the impact of COVID-19, vaccination certificate notarizations, currently in high demand from the public, have also been included in the online service list.

The office's staffs handle applications uploaded by customers every day and contact them by phone to clarify and verify materials until the application is complete. The notaries then undertake video confirmation with the other parties, using an intelligent notarization system. After confirmation, the notarial certificate is produced and mailed to the parties.

What's more, the Lingang Notary Public Office established a special online service for local biopharma firms. The notarization process, which previously took five to seven working days on average, has as a result been reduced to less than two working days.

The Lingang Notary Public Office – the first legal notary service agency in Lin-gang – was established on Jan 28 this year. Its business covers finance, family affairs, intellectual property rights, civil and commercial affairs, foreign affairs and other notary matters and legal consulting services.

It can also provide door-to-door services, one-stop translations and certification and other related matters.
