The new WuXi Advanced Therapies Inc research and development center and commercial production plant – based in the Lin-gang Special Area – reportedly started operations on Oct 18.

Biopharma group WuXi Advanced Therapies, a wholly owned subsidiary of WuXi AppTec, specializes in R&D, production and other related services of cell therapy products and gene vectors.

Lin-gang is the fourth production plant for WuXi Advanced Therapies.

The center will effectively supplement the company's global operations network and it will reportedly link with the other three operations in the United States, the United Kingdom and China.

The Lin-gang facility aims to provide integrated process development, production and testing services for virus vector and cell therapy.

The new base has been equipped with more than 200 independent suites and six complete carrier and cell production lines, including an independent liquids distribution center and a GMP level sterile filling isolator.
