The Lin-gang Special Area in East China's Shanghai city recently welcomed its first international school – the Lin-gang campus of the Shanghai High School international department – which opened on Sept 1.

The debut of the school has reportedly helped a lot of foreign staff working in Lin-gang resolve concerns about their children's schooling.

The school currently has three grades and each grade has two classes, according to the director of the international department at the Lin-gang campus.

The teachers are all experienced Chinese and foreign teachers from the school headquarters and there is a foreign teacher in each class.

It is understood that during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), schools for the children of expats, with independent legal entities, will also be set up as required.
