The Lin-gang Special Area located in East China's megacity and financial hub of Shanghai boasts unique advantages in terms of its green remanufacturing industry – the sector that recycles and repurposes old products and materials into new ones.

The area has a complete industry supply chain in the field. It has basic services such as standard workshops, logistics, policy interpretation and human resource management. It also provides special services that include the supply of raw materials, trusted quality control, technical support, centralized precleaning and disposal of dangerous solid waste.

Many heavy-weight projects in the field can be found in Lin-gang, such as the GE Aviation (China) Smart Manufacture and Remanufacture Innovation Center. The industrial remanufacturing sector comprises technological research centers – including the National Key Laboratory for Remanufacture and the National Engineering Center for Mechanical Product Remanufacture – as well as public service platforms, such as on-site training centers and testing and qualifications centers.

Building on its industrial base, policy advantages and technical support, Lin-gang is reportedly sparing no effort to create an industrial ecosystem for a remanufacturing industry with global influence. The aim is for it to provide a driving force for the development of smart, low-carbon and high-end manufacturing.

Lin-gang is upping the pace to attract more projects and to develop itself as a national demonstration zone for imported equipment remanufacturing.
