A more efficient and simplified integrated business license, which could lower costs and boost company profits, could soon be fully introduced to the Lin-gang Special Area in East China's Shanghai after a pilot program recently started there.

The Lin-gang Special Area Administration has reportedly actively promoted an integrated license pilot program since the State Council, China's Cabinet, gave it the nod last November.

On July 21 Shanghai Luyuan Pharmacy obtained a one-stop license for the pharmacy industry – the first such license issued by the Lin-gang Special Area.

The State Council said the single document, combining the previously required multiple licenses, can significantly reduce industry costs and foster a world-class business environment.

In addition, localized administration means companies in the Lin-gang Special Area only need one visit to deal with a number of business categories.

Altogether, 10 industries in the Lin-gang Special Area – including convenience stores, pharmacies and internet service business outlets – have spearheaded the integrated license reform.

It is understood that the pilot will be extended to more industries and will be implemented in the Fengxian area in the Lin-gang Special Area this year.

With 63 business licensing items, plans are for the Lin-gang Special Area to fully implement the efficient administrative approvals procedure this year for a company to start up a business there.
