Lin-gang to supply water to Shengsi county
Shanghai's Lin-gang Special Area signed an agreement on April 26 with Shengsi county – an island county administered by Zhoushan city in East China's Zhejiang province – to supply it with water from the mainland.
As an island county, Shengsi has a serious shortage of fresh water, with its per capita water resources currently estimated at only 1/11th of the national level.
Under the agreement, the two sides will reconfigure the existing DN500 water supply pipeline to nearby Xiaoyangshan Island, which will divert 3.65 million cubic meters of water annually to Shengsi.

A seminar involving the main participants in the Yangtze River Delta region reportedly regarded the project as a key program.
The implementation of the water supply project from Xiaoyangshan Island to Shengsi county is expected to play a leading role in the national strategy for the integration of the Yangtze River Delta. It is seen meeting the needs for social and economic development, as well as achieving water quality and supply improvements.
