Statistics showed that the main urban area of the Lin-gang Special Area of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone – located in East China's Shanghai city – received 150,000 visits on April 3-5 during the Qingming Festival, or Tomb Sweeping Day.

The total passenger flow reportedly reached a peak of 97,283 people in the first two days of the break.

Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park, Dishui Lake and other popular scenic spots in Lin-gang accounted for 70 percent of the total number of visits.

Ni Ying, director of the Nanhui new town transportation center, said personnel from the department responsible for the implementation of emergency support were deployed during the Qingming holiday and the frontline support force numbered about 480 people.

Through the deployment of intelligent means such as the Lin-gang Eye and drones, Lin-gang has built a comprehensive surveillance system that can be counted on for efficient responses.

The Lin-gang Eye is an advanced camera system based on augmented reality technology that uses static resources such as low-point cameras, sensory equipment, alarm pillars, scenic spots, buildings, shopping malls, hotels, toilets, bus stations and street lamps with AR tags – sending signals to drones and other equipment.

There is also a fleet of drones operated by team working under a management platform for the main urban area of Lin-gang. At present, there are seven drone teams that can realize full coverage of the 72 square kilometers of the main urban area. The drones can automatically count the number of people and vehicles when patrolling, which has helped urban governance in such areas as illegal parking.

Moving forwards, there are plans for Lin-gang to create a national demonstration area for sophisticated urban management with drones.
