The Panamanian cargo ship Toyo Energy set sail on April 3 from Nangang Wharf – located in the Lin-gang Special Area of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone in East China's Shanghai city – on a mission to transport 136 sets of engineering vehicles to be used in strategic projects in Indonesia.
This was the first batch of engineering vehicles – including excavators, dump trucks and road rollers produced locally by SANY Heavy Machinery – exported from Nangang Wharf this year and was also the largest batch of engineering vehicles shipped and delivered since the opening of the wharf.
Indonesia is implementing a five-year development plan with infrastructure as key to boosting its economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic. The engineering vehicles will be used in airports, power stations, bridges and road construction projects.
SANY Heavy Machinery has a massive 250,000-square-meter plant producing engineering vehicles in the Lin-gang Special Area – a region which has become a magnet for high-end equipment manufacturers in Shanghai.
The factory is understood to be the excavator production base with the most complete technology and the highest degree of automation in the world. It can produce more than 2,000 medium-sized excavators every month.
In addition to its technical expertise, the Lin-gang Special Area provides production and supply chain support linking local production, nearby shipping and safe and orderly customs clearances for resident companies, which further boosts the international competitiveness of the products.
