A launch ceremony for a new demonstration platform for digital applications of unmanned aerial vehicles – or UAVs – which started operations on March 16, was held in the Lin-gang Special Area in Shanghai.

The new facility is reportedly a service platform for emerging low altitude digital industries engaged in the R&D, operations and low altitude logistics of general aviation, UAV and other aircraft in Lin-gang.

The platform will provide safety guarantees for the use of UAVs operating in low altitude airspace in Lin-gang and draw up a plan for the utilization of low altitude airspace resources. It will explore more low altitude digital applications scenarios and help transform UAV technology to better serve society.

Two companies - Shanghai Lingang Songjiang Science and Technology City Investment & Development Co Ltd and Skysys Artificial Intelligence Technology (Shanghai) Co Ltd - signed a cooperation agreement on UAV digital demonstration applications at the launch ceremony.

The agreement aims to help activate an international innovation collaborative zone, advance the construction of a digital and intelligent park - and lead the construction of a UAV applications demonstration park through the UAV digital application demonstration services platform.

Moving forwards, Lingang Science and Technology City plans to build a precise park management system with UAV participation. This is expected to create an intelligent park ecosystem with comprehensive supervision, accurate management and effective risk prevention.

In addition, the East China Regional Administration of the Civil Aviation Administration of China issued an official certificate for the M2 Amphibious light sport aircraft developed by Shanghai Oxai Aircraft Co Ltd on the same day.

The aircraft is the first full composite amphibious aircraft independently developed by China and has reportedly entered the commercialization stage, receiving orders from many countries.
