Zhijing restaurant, an intelligent canteen, recently opened in Shanghai's Lin-gang Special Area – whetting the appetites and stirring the expectations of foodies and tech-heads alike, according to local officials.

They said it is located on the first floor of the No 4 building, at 99 Haiyang Fourth Road. The first floor is a dining area with more than 400 seats, which can accommodate 1,000-1,500 people during peak periods.

There is a large kitchen with a total area of 525 square meters on the ground floor of canteen, which can cater for more than 40 dishes for offline and online orders at a single time.

With chips inserted into the plates, people who want to settle their bill need only place the plates at the intelligent checkout counter and scan the QR code for payment.
