The Lin-gang Special Area Administration of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone signed an agreement with Shanghai Fuhong Medical Service Co Ltd on Dec 3 to build a proton and neutron therapy equipment industry base in Yangshan Special Comprehensive Bonded Zone.

The project has an investment of nearly 2.1 billion yuan ($ 321 million) and is the first industrial development and research project located in the special comprehensive bonded zone.

The Fuhong Medical proton and neutron therapy equipment industry base will be built into a proton and neutron equipment industry cluster and aims to localize proton therapy equipment.

Fuhong Medical is an investment platform for the medical and health industry which holds funds for large state-owned firms and central enterprises.

The overseas partner of the project is Provision Healthcare, a US-based healthcare organization at the leading edge of medical science and technology. It is also the only supplier of proton therapy total solutions in the world.
