Since the establishment of the Lin-gang Special Area on August 20 of last year, agreements for 461 projects involving 315.7 billion yuan ($48 billion) in investment have been signed, according to Zhu Zhisong, executive deputy director of the Lin-gang Special Area Administration, on Nov 26.

"We've focused on attracting and promoting investment, and have been pushing forward the development of pioneering industries," Zhu said.

From January to October, the industrial output of Lin-gang Special Area is expected to grow by 36 percent year-on-year, fixed asset investment is expected to grow by 41.3 percent, and industrial investment is expected to grow by 60.4 percent.

In addition, the layout of pioneering industries has been gradually improved in the area.

In the integrated circuit (IC) industry, the 10-square-kilometer Oriental IC Port has opened and is now home to more than 40 enterprises with a scale of over 100 million yuan and a total investment of over 150 billion yuan, forming the beginning of a complete IC industrial chain.

For the biomedicine industry, the 4.5-sq-km Life Science Blue Bay has opened. Over 50 enterprises with a total investment of more than 34 billion yuan have been established or signed contracts to operate there.

Lin-gang has also been focusing on the artificial intelligence industry in an effort to promote the development of new industries and new forms of business, including intelligent vehicles, intelligent manufacturing, and intelligent robots. More than 70 related enterprises with a total of over 15.5 billion yuan in investment have set up operations or signed contracts in the area.

Lin-gang is also heavily engaged in the intelligent internet-connected new energy automobile industry. With the help of influential enterprises such as Tesla and SAIC, it is attracting an increasing number of enterprises involved in the industrial chain. It has signed contracts with over 30 enterprises with a total of over 10 billion yuan in investment.

For the aviation and aerospace industry, the 24.7-sq-km Large Aircraft Industrial Park has opened. Twenty-three projects with a total investment of more than 20 billion yuan have agreed to set up operation there thus far.

In addition, Lin-gang Special Area has established and refined a number of institutions. It is capable of carrying out 1,170 administrative examination, approval, and punishment procedures at the municipal and district levels.
