Shanghai Rongrong New Material Technology Co Ltd's alumina continuous fiber has finished pilot tests and is expected to be put into mass production in the first quarter of next year, according to an announcement by the company at the 22nd China International Industry Fair (CIIF) in Shanghai.

The company's production base is located in the Lin-gang Special Area, a new section of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

Lin-gang provides comprehensive policy support to enterprises engaged in pioneering new materials research and development in the form of factories, equipment, capital and talent, and that is why Rongrong decided set up operations in the area, according to head of Rongrong new materials.

Lin-gang has issued policies which include 40 measures affecting four key industries – integrated circuits, artificial intelligence, biomedicine, aviation and aerospace – areas which China identifies as bottlenecks to its developmental potential.

"We've kept in close contact with the Lin-gang Special Area Administration," said Ding Bang, CEO of Celgen Biopharma, adding that the government knew what kind of support they needed and tailored policies accordingly.

The policies are very flexible and can be tailored and updated to suit industrial development and enterprise demands.

Lin-gang Special Area upgraded its policies regarding the development of biomedicine on Sept 13, no more than a year after the original policies were implemented.

Lin-gang Special Area has seen strong results this month. Two high-level IC projects and a number of biomedical projects are being carried out in the area, involving a total investment of more than 30 billion yuan ($4.4 billion).

Innovative technologies created by colleges and universities in Lin-gang were also on show at the 22nd CIIF in Shanghai.
