Shenggang community in the Lin-gang Special Area of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone recently started a science experience event, according to local media.

"As soon as we opened registration, spots filled up immediately. We only offered 15 spots, but received more than 60 applications" said Xu Yong, an official of Shengyang community.

This was the first time the Zhi Hui Jiang Xin Gang (Wisdom and Ingenuity Harbor) science center in Lin-gang had opened to the public after recently finishing construction.

The science center has many exhibition areas, including a robot AI pavilion, a numerical control DIY garage, and an intelligent home experience square. Visitors can experience 3D printing, laser cutting and carving, underwater robots, a 4D space travel chair, a smart home simulation, writing robots, and more.

According to Wang Yijie, director of the office of the Shanghai Mechanical Engineering Society, a partner unit of the center, some features of the center's exhibits come from Lin-gang firms, and the themes of the exhibition areas coincide with the four major industries in Lin-gang.

Several pavilions at the center were also built in cooperation with Shanghai Jianqiao University and the College of Mechanical Engineering of Shanghai Dianji University.
