The Lin-gang Special Area Administration cooperated with the Shanghai Integrated Circuit Industry Association (SICA) for the first time to improve the integrated circuit (IC) industrial ecology and scale up the IC industry, according to the Leading IC Enterprises CEO Summit held in Lin-gang on Aug 21.

The IC industry has been booming in Lin-gang Special Area throughout 2020. More than 30 companies involved in the IC industry have set up operations there, attracting a total of more than 100 billion yuan ($14.45 billion) in investment.

Lin-gang has attracted a number of leading companies, including Huada Semiconductor, ZING SEMI, Wingtech, Galaxycore Semiconductor, CAS, AMEC, ACM research, Cambricon, and Horizon Robotics, and formed a full IC industrial chain including design, manufacturing, storage, wide bandgap semiconductors, testing, equipment, and materials.

Lin-gang hopes to overcome obstacles related to new energy and has started building distinct industrial zones, including Oriental Chip Harbor, Life Science Blue Bay, Jumbo Jet Zone, and the "Information Flying Fish" global digital economy innovation island, according to Wu Xiaohua, deputy director of Lin-gang Special Area.

Moving forward, the IC industry in Lin-gang is expected to link research on artificial intelligence and driverless vehicles with intelligent equipment, new energy vehicle, aviation, and aerospace manufacturing.

In addition, CEOs of leading enterprises in the IC industry enthusiastically shared their opinions and carried out technical exchanges during the summit.
