Xiaoyangshan Island covers about 26 square kilometers.

Xiaoyangshan Island area lies at the intersection of the north-south route of shipping and the golden waterway of the Yangtze River. Adjacent to international air routes and with distinctive geographical advantages, it is located at the junction of international and domestic logistics routes. The area's leaders are planning for it to become a major international hub for resource allocation that integrates international commodities, capital, information and technology, and logistics and trade. It will promote the coordinated development of China's logistics network by dealing efficiently with foreign enterprises. It will vigorously develop the shipping logistics industry and become a hub where goods are transited by LCL (Less than Container Load) services, based on the high-standard policies and systems for trade liberalization and facilitation in the Yangshan Special Comprehensive Bonded Area and the integrated advantages of the Yangshan Deep-water Port and its branch lines.
