Lin-gang T1: China's first tram to use DRT

The Lin-gang Special Area in Shanghai will be the first in China to have a Digital-rail Rapid Transit (DRT) tram line called the Lin-gang T1.

Construction of the 21.75-kilometer line is scheduled to begin this year, according to Lin-gang Transportation Co Ltd. 

The line will stretch from the Dishui Lake Station of Shanghai Metro Line 16 to Hongyin Square and pass through areas such as the Lin-gang Special Area, the university zone, Luchao Port Community, the heavy equipment zone and Nicheng Community.

The Lin-gang T1 is expected to strengthen the connection between the main city area and its industrial zone, as well as promote the integration of urban and industrial development.

According to Lin-gang Transportation Co Ltd, the tram line can function safely even under extreme weather conditions.
