Lin-gang Special Area is developing three tourism clusters, plans to build a Luchaogang port town, and is introducing special tourist routes including food, cruises, intangible cultural heritage items, and special industries, according to a tourism resource promotion held on May 20.

Hu Zhiqiang, chief of Nanhui New Town in Lin-gang Special Area, said that there are five 4A and three 3A-level scenic areas in Lin-gang. During the May Day holiday, Lin-gang received 184,200 tourists, with the highest daily flow exceeding 50,000.

The three aforementioned tourism clusters include an area consisting of Dishui Lake and the urban rim landscape zones, a modern integrated community based around the Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park and the Shanghai Planetarium, and the Luchaogang port town, which revolves around fishing and port culture.

Lin-gang Special Area plans to expand and enrich its tourism appeal and promote the merging of tourism with scientific technology based on Lin-gang's four main industries - integrated circuits, artificial intelligence, biomedicine, and aerospace.

Policies promoting the development of the tourism and sports industries in Lin-gang Special Area were also announced at the event, and a number of "Lin-gang intelligent manufacturing" industrial tourism routes were signed.

In addition, several Lin-gang companies and travel agencies, including the Innovation Academy for Microsatellites of the CSA (Chinese Academy of Sciences), Shanghai Shangfei Aircraft Equipment Manufacturing Co Ltd, and Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co Ltd, have established an industrial tourism alliance.
