China Mobile in Shanghai is rapidly advancing the development of new infrastructure such as 5G and data centers.

The China Mobile Lin-gang IDC R&D and industrialization base has been listed as a major project in Shanghai for four consecutive years.

Work has resumed on the second phase of the base, and all seven data centers are scheduled to be finished by the end of this year.

The China Mobile Lin-gang IDC R&D and industrialization base was promoted by the Shanghai municipal government and China Mobile.

The base covers an area of 160,000 square meters, and has a building area of 250,000 square meters.

The first phase of the base has gradually been put into operation since the end of 2018. At present, the installed rate of the first phase project is at 90 percent, effectively meeting the mass cloud data communication and storage needs of customers.

The international cable landing office has also opened an international cable business of the first NCP (New Crossing-Pacific Cable System) at the same time.

"This means that the project is also the mainland landing point for China mobile's 5G submarine cable connecting the Internet between China, Japan and the United States," said an employee of China Mobile (Shanghai).

Despite being 1.5 times larger than phase I, phase II will be constructed far quicker in order to meet the needs of communication development.
