Intelligent Shipping and Innovative Development Conference held in Lin-gang Special Area
The second Intelligent Shipping and Innovative Development Conference started in Lin-gang Special Area of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone on Oct 25.
More than 300 representatives from transport authorities, domestic and foreign port and shipping enterprises, scientific research institutes and related industry associations had in-depth exchanges of views on such topics as policies, technical standards, future trends and development vision for intelligent shipping.
The conference aims to build an industry-university-research cooperation and interaction platform for the display of scientific and technological achievements in intelligent shipping, exchange and communication of policies, research and decisions on market strategies, and industrial chain cooperation to accelerate the integration of traditional industries with intelligent shipping, thereby contributing to building China into a transport power.
Wu Xiaohua, deputy director of Lin-gang Special Area made a speech in which he pointed out that the special area, as a major national strategy will implement an open policy and system that will be competitive in international markets and adopt a highly open international shipping management mechanism. The marine industry and intelligent shipping will surely make great strides in Lin-gang Special Area, Wu said.

Xu Zuyuan, the International Maritime Organization's maritime ambassador, said that intelligent shipping is a new shipping business form that deeply integrates traditional shipping elements with modern information communications, artificial intelligence and other high and new technologies, making shipping more economical and reliable, daily operations safer and more environmentally friendly, and regulation and services more intelligent and efficient. He suggested that Lin-gang should promote the development of intelligent shipping in three aspects –promoting the conversion of old driving forces into new ones, paying attention to scientific development planning and forming benign interaction among all sectors.
