Construction of a national technological infrastructure project known as the High-Efficiency Low-Carbon Gas Turbine Testing Apparatus, has started in Lin-gang Special Area. The project will fill in blanks in China's high-power gas turbine testing sector.

Gas turbines, as important heavy equipment, are symbols of national scientific and technological strength, equipment manufacturing capability and even comprehensive national strength. High-efficiency low-carbon gas turbine testing apparatuses are the precondition and basis for implementing China's "aero engine and gas turbine" research projects.

In the future, the implementation and operation of the High-Efficiency Low-Carbon Gas Turbine Testing Apparatus built by Shanghai Research Center for Energy and Power will provide a world-class advanced testing platform for China's efficient utilization of natural gas, research and development of gas turbines used in renewable energy utilization, the fourth generation of nuclear energy, energy storage, process applications, industrial energy conservation, and even aero engines and ship gas turbines.

It will improve the autonomy of relevant industries, and provide important support for Shanghai to become a center of scientific and technological innovation with global influence, and create the "Made in Shanghai" brand. It will also facilitate the concentration of advanced manufacturing in Lin-gang that reflects China's national strategy and Shanghai's advantages.

As one of the first major national projects and platforms launched in Lin-gang Special Area, the construction of the High-Efficiency Low-Carbon Gas Turbine Testing Apparatus represents another of Shanghai's great achievements in scientific and technological innovation.

It is in line with Lin-gang Special Area's aim to "lead in innovation, focus on building world-class cutting-edge industrial clusters, enhance the capability of scientific and technological innovation and industrial integration, accelerate the formation of new drivers of growth, and enhance new edges in international competition".

The project will provide support for the development of advanced manufacturing, and the efforts of the aero engine and gas turbine heavy equipment industries to become a new business card of Lin-gang Special Area.
