In June 2019, Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone United Development Co Ltd cooperated with SF group and DHL China to introduce the BMW Asia Pacific spare parts distribution center project with a leasing area of 5,000 square meters, which is planned to expand to 15,000 sq m within two years. The distribution center is the third-largest BMW bonded spare parts warehouse in the world, smaller only than the German and North American ones. Relying on the unique geographical advantages of Yangshan Bonded Port Area and the convenient customs operations, the warehouse will serve as an important base for BMW's supply chain to radiate across the whole Asia Pacific Region.

BMW Group said that this Asian spare parts distribution center is crucial to the group's overall after-sales business in China, and will also play a key role in BMW's global logistics network in the future, serving the entire Asian region. The functional form of the Asian spare parts distribution center determines that it should not only have a logistics and transport capacity that radiates through surrounding areas rapidly, but also puts forward higher requirements for the convenient import and export of goods. The geographical location of Yangshan Bonded Port Area of Lin-gang Special Area and its policy advantages are fully displayed.

As the first bonded port in China, Yangshan has become the hub port of Shanghai that links with the Yangtze River Delta region, serves all of China and radiates across Asia Pacific region since its opening 15 years ago. With the important opportunity of the development of Lin-gang Special Area, Yangshan Bonded Port Area will come to a new stage of rapid development.

The Overall Plan of Lin-gang Special Area declares that Lin-gang Special Area will support the development of key industries with international competitiveness, and explore an appropriate customs supervision system according to the business characteristics of the enterprises involved. It can be predicted that through the implementation of higher-level trade liberalization and facilitation policies and systems, this region will become an important carrier to benchmark the internationally recognized and most competitive free trade parks.
