A remote identity verification system for Chinese-funded enterprises in Lin-gang Special Area of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, which was launched on Sept 26, will speed up the service in the special area.

"We used to need to drive two hours from the city center and wait for another hour in the service center," said Shi Xiaowei, a shareholder of Diandu Culture Media Company. "Now, I just need to tap my fingers in the office, and I can finish all the procedures in a few minutes. It saves at least three hours, which is very convenient for us."

The convenience enjoyed by shareholders and employees of enterprises is brought about by a remote identity verification system. To further facilitate market objectives and optimize the business environment of Lin-gang Special Area, its administrative service center has set up a real-time remote identity verification and digital signature system for four high-frequency matters: establishing an enterprise, changing enterprise records, renewing business licenses and establishing equity pledges.

"After the launch of the remote identity verification system, shareholders and officials can realize 24-hour uninterrupted AI (artificial intelligence) identification all over the country and even abroad, which greatly facilitates their investment activities," said Zhang Xiuying, a staff member of the special area's administrative examination and approval office.

"We want to let data run more, and enterprises run less, and even not run at all."

Zhang also explained that the remote identity verification system not only facilitates business operations, but also reduce fraudulent use of identity cards, "because the remote identity verification system needs dynamic pictures. It is difficult to take someone else's place by counterfeiting a photo."

Lin-gang Special Area has trained all its main investment staff to ensure that those people who directly deal with the enterprises can keep those companies fully informed about the new system.

At the same time, staff at window at the administrative service hall will also give reminders to ensure that every enterprise in the special area understands this new convenient and fast measure.
