A transit line similar to one in Hong Kong will help bring Lin-gang area closer to downtown Shanghai, according to an adviser from Hong Kong.

Jacky Chung, a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference of Shanghai Committee,  suggested building a rapid transit system "like the Hong Kong Airport Express service" at the 12th standing committee meeting of the 13th CPPCC Shanghai Committee in September 2019.

As regional director, Eastern and Central China of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, he delivered a keynote speech along with two advisers from Hong Kong and Macau.

"A parallel metro line, as well as an expressway, could be built at the same time," Chung said.

Chen Yin, vice-mayor of Shanghai and director of the Lin-gang Special Area Administration, will be briefed on the progress of construction of the new area at a later meeting next week.

Thirteen political advisers offered suggestions on the establishment of a tax system with international competitiveness, among other financial matters.
