The opening ceremony of Shanghai Lin-gang Intelligent Connected Vehicle Integrative Testing Demonstration Zone was held in Shanghai Lin-gang Special Area on Aug 23, 2019.

The ceremony was hosted by China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone Lin-gang Special Area administrative committee and organized by Lin-gang Science And Technology Innovation City Economic Development Co Ltd and Shanghai Lingang Intelligent Connected Vehicle Research Center Co Ltd.

Guests from relevant departments of Shanghai Municipal Government, technological research institutions, key enterprises in intelligent connected vehicles, colleges and universities, and development and administration committees of intelligent connected vehicle integrative testing demonstration zones in sister provinces and cities attended the opening ceremony.

In May 2018, Lin-gang area released the Plan for Comprehensive Demonstration Zone of Land, Sea and Air Unmanned Systems (referred to as the "Three Unmanned Systems Plan"), which aims to activate the innovation environment, build a sound industrial system, and create a healthy industrial ecology to further promote the agglomeration and rapid development of related industries. The opening ceremony marked a solid step in the process of promoting the implementation of the "Three Unmanned Systems Plan" in Lin-gang Special Area.

Shanghai Lin-gang Intelligent Connected Vehicle Integrative Testing Demonstration Zone (hereinafter referred to as Lin-gang Testing Demonstration Zone), also known as Future LAIV, is planned and invested in by the Lin-gang Special Area Administration. The technical and management resources of Lingang Science And Technology Innovation City Economic Development Co Ltd, Shanghai Motor Vehicle Inspection Certification & Tech Innovation Center Co Ltd, and China Academy of Information and Communications Technology have been integrated to form Shanghai Lin-gang Intelligent Connected Vehicle Research Center Co Ltd, which is responsible for the operation and management of the demonstration zone and provides it with strong technical support.

Future LAIV is homophonic to Future Life, which indicates that in Lin-gang Special Area, intelligent vehicle infrastructure cooperative systems (IVICS) will focus on "people". From the perspectives of industrial trends, key technologies and design applications, IVICS will bring together the most pioneering enterprises and technologies in the automobile, communications and internet of things (IoT) industries, and truly integrate intelligent industries into smart cities and cutting-edge technologies into modern life.
