Dalian Port in Jinpu New Area has reported a 10.2 percent increase in container throughput in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period last year, reflecting both higher volume and improved operational quality.
Significant strides in efficiency have been made thanks to the port's "Excellent Speed" and "High Precision" service campaign. Ship arrival and berthing rates reached 94.3 percent, operational efficiency improved by 3.6 percent year-on-year, and the average time ships spent in port decreased by 6.2 percent.
To expand its reach, Dalian Port has optimized its route network by launching two new international container routes: "Dalian-South America West" and "Dalian-India." These routes fill a crucial gap in direct shipping services from Dalian to South America.
The port also took advantage of the rebound in the imported bulk frozen fish market. By enhancing internal safety and service standards while improving coordination with customers, Dalian Port managed 32 frozen fish shipments and processed over 100,000 tons of imported frozen fish.
In terms of service quality, the "Smart Port 2.0" project has significantly upgraded the reservation platform for empty container clearance. In the first half of the year, this system processed nearly 250,000 containers, with a 49 percent increase in reservation fulfillment rates compared to the previous year.
Additionally, Dalian Port set new records by completing operations and shore power services for its first large methanol-powered vessel and its handling of the largest domestically developed ultra-large container ship.
