The 30th Tri-U International Joint Seminar & Symposium was held at Jiangsu University on Nov 11, celebrating 30 years of cross-border academic exchange among universities in China, Japan, and ASEAN countries.
Established in 1994 by Mie University in Japan, Chiang Mai University in Thailand, and Jiangsu University in China, the Tri-U Symposium has evolved into a vital platform for collaboration. Over time, additional institutions, such as Bogor Agricultural University in Indonesia, Guangxi University in China, and Maejo University in Thailand, have hosted the event, reflecting its growing influence.
"Over the past 30 years, over 3,000 faculty and students from over 10 Asian universities have participated in the symposium," said Xing Weihong, president of Jiangsu University. This year's discussions centered on critical global issues, including population growth, food security, energy crises, environmental degradation, and the ethics and applications of artificial intelligence.

Yuan Shouqi, director of Jiangsu University's National Research Center of Pump, emphasized the symposium's significance. "Tri-U addresses global challenges such as population, food, energy, and the environment while expanding into areas like ecology, bioinformatics, and artificial intelligence," he said. The platform has helped Jiangsu University establish partnerships with 252 institutions across 66 countries, host nearly 2,300 international students annually, and strengthen its role as a leader in global education.
As a symbol of sustainable development, the Tri-U has also trained numerous talents in agricultural machinery management through its international programs, continuing to foster innovation and cooperation on a global scale.
