Ashraf Uz Zaman, a Bangladeshi student pursuing his doctoral degree at the mechanical engineering school at Nanjing Tech University, has been living in Nanjing for nearly eight years. He has received scholarships from the Jiangsu government multiple times for his outstanding academic achievements and is also known for his active involvement in volunteer work.

Driven by a desire to contribute to the future of engineering in his home country, Zaman decided to pursue his studies in Nanjing. Over the years, he has earned both a bachelor's and master's degree in mechanical engineering.

While navigating his research path, Zaman admitted to facing challenges when selecting his thesis topic, but he overcame them by collaborating with lab colleagues and seeking guidance from his professors. He emphasized the importance of learning from unexpected results during experiments, seeing them as opportunities to build resilience. His dedication has led him to publish multiple papers in academic journals.

Outside his academic pursuits, Zaman dedicates much of his time to student work and volunteering. He assists his professors in supervising undergraduate research projects and supports the College of Overseas Education by helping fellow students with their daily academic and living needs. His volunteer efforts extend beyond the university, as he actively participates in community service, environmental initiatives, and museum volunteer work.
