Wuxi is a city of affluence and fascinating natural scenery. It is characterized by abundant beautiful rivers, idyllic lakes, unique-shaped caves, bamboo forests and tea gardens. The city is home to four national 5A scenic spots and 27 national 4A scenic spots, including the Lingshan Mountain, the Yuantouzhu Island and the Wuxi Movie/TV Base.

Wuxi is an old city in southern Jiangsu province. Split in half by Taihu Lake, Wuxi borders Changzhou to the west and Suzhou to the east. The Yangtze River lies between the northern half of Wuxi and Taizhou, while the southern half of the city borders Zhejiang province. 

Wuxi is also famous for being one of the birthplaces of China's modern industry and commerce, as well as the hometown of many important businessmen, who played essential roles in building modern Shanghai commerce since the early 20th century.

History & Culture

Boasting a history of more than 3,000 years, Wuxi is a historical city with profound cultural heritages and a large amount of talents. It's home to the Wu Culture in ancient times, and the national industrial and commercial culture in modern times. Wuxi has 31 important heritage sites under state protection, 11 sites named national intangible cultural heritage and 60 museums and memorial halls.

Wuxi is on an alluvial plain of deep sedimentary deposits cut between limestone foothills. The vast majority of Wuxi's land area is flat. The highest point in the city is its peak of Huangtading Mountain in Yixing's Lingxia Village, which is 611.5 meters high, the highest mountain in the south Yangtze River Delta region. The city has many rivers, canals, streams and lakes and is known for its rich water resources. The notable Grand Canal passes through the city.
