A Chinese speech competition held in Zhenjiang on July 9 showcased the talents of six international students from Nigeria, Uzbekistan, Cote d'Ivoire, and other countries, all studying at Jiangsu University and Jiangsu University of Science and Technology.

The event, designed to promote cross-cultural exchange and enhance Chinese language skills among international students, featured participants sharing their experiences and journeys in mastering the Chinese language.

An Ivorian student from Jiangsu University of Science and Technology won first place after five years of studying Chinese. An Uzbekistani student from Jiangsu University secured second place and remarked, "Participating in this competition helps improve our Chinese proficiency and allows us to learn the meanings of more Chinese characters."

The top three finalists will go on to represent Zhenjiang in the provincial semi-finals of Jiangsu province.
