On June 25, Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology signed a cooperation agreement with the United Nations Environment Programme.

The agreement states that both parties will collaborate on early warning research in areas such as environmental pollution and climate change. They will form a joint research and education partnership, create training programs in environmental early warning and assessment, and co-host academic conferences.

Li Beiqun, principal of NUIST, emphasized the university's active participation in global climate change mitigation and environmental governance. He highlighted NUIST's ongoing efforts to enhance international cooperation and exchange, and develop students' global perspective and international competence.

Liu Jian, director of the Early Warning and Assessment Division at UNEP, remarked that the two organizations had previously established a strong foundation for collaboration. He acknowledged the support and contributions of many outstanding NUIST alumni during his nearly two-decade tenure at the UN.
