The Nanjing New E-commerce College was established in Nanjing, the capital of East China's Jiangsu province on Nov 16.
Built by the Nanjing commerce bureau, the Nanjing Electronic Commerce Association, the Nanjing Vocational College of Information Technology (NJCIT) and a number of leading companies in the e-commerce industry, the college is the first of its kind in China.
The new college, located in the NJCIT, focuses on new e-commerce business models and applications such as cross-border e-commerce, live-streaming e-commerce and social media e-commerce.
Several facilities for cross-border e-commerce operation and live-streaming in the college have been completed. The college has also cooperated with many companies including A. O. Smith and Honeywell on e-commerce projects.
Liu Dongfeng, executive director of the college and dean of the NJCIT's School of Digital Commerce, said e-commerce is an ever-changing industry and that teachers and students can learn about the latest industry trends as well as improve their professional skills by getting involved in actual projects.
According to an official with the Nanjing commerce bureau, new technologies and applications have been constantly springing up in the e-commerce industry, and this has brought about many new professions. For example, internet marketers are the most sought-after talents in 2022.
The Nanjing New E-commerce College is expected to provide a wealth of human resources and technical services to the e-commerce industry, added the official.
