Research base for agricultural technology aids agriculture industry
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People's Republic of China recently published a list of 68 supported research bases for agricultural technology, among which 28 were established by universities in East China's Jiangsu province.
The research bases for agricultural technology are designed for post-graduates majoring in agriculture. The bases are meant to strengthen the training of post-graduates in China and boost rural revitalization.
The rice research base in Rugao was established by the College of Resources and Environmental Science of Nanjing Agricultural University in 2008 and has helped cultivate many agricultural experts.
Six years of study and experience at the base allowed me to obtain my current job, said Guo Jiuxin, a doctoral student who graduated from the Nanjing Agricultural industry.
In addition, research bases for agricultural technology can provide post-graduates with opportunities to apply their knowledge and strengthen their agricultural production skills.
For example, the Huaiyin cucumber research base established by Yangzhou University has developed a variety of cucumbers.
Teachers and students at the research base have also helped local farmers improve the soil quality to boost cucumber yields.
Thanks to the improved yield, the incomes of cucumber farmers have increased more than 20 percent, said Wang Yongbing, vice president of Dingji town in Huayin.
