Jiangsu's education in last 10 years

East China's Jiangsu province has achieved high-quality development in the education sector over the past decade.

The enrolment rate of primary and secondary education in the province currently stands at over 95 percent, higher than the national average.

Authorities have provided about 75 billion yuan ($10.43 billion) to students with economic difficulties over the last 10 years. About 24 million students have benefited from this financial support.

The province has also launched after-school services to ease the burdens of excessive homework and off-campus tutoring for students. The service is provided in all primary and middle schools in Jiangsu.

In the past decade, the number of vocational schools in the province has climbed from 77 to 91. Jiangsu presently has more than 8.3 million skilled talents, the most in China.

In addition, the enrolment ratio of higher education in the province has risen from 47 percent to 65 percent in the past decade. The number of colleges and universities in the province has also increased from 153 to 168, the most in the country.

The number of graduates from colleges and universities in Jiangsu increased from 526,000 in 2012 to 660,000 in 2022. The annual employment rate of graduates is around 90 percent.

Life-long education in the province has also been strengthened in the past decade. Jiangsu is currently the home to 73 open universities, 103 community colleges, 1,260 community education centers and more than 10,000 senior citizen schools.

To date, Jiangsu has established 12 national demonstrations of community education, accounting for 10 percent of the national total.
