The Suzhou Chien-Shiung Institute of Technology (CSIT), which is located in Taicang, a county-level city in East China's Jiangsu province, signed a cooperation agreement last November with German vocational college Fachhochschule des Mittelstands (FHM) to cultivate innovative talents with a global perspective.

The program, which marks the first Sino-German vocational education cooperation in the province, has been approved by the provincial education department recently.

According to the agreement, the program will enroll 60 students every year based on China's Higher Education Admission Scheme.

The enrolled students will study at CSIT for three years and major in mechatronics. Those who successfully complete the course will receive a college degree from CSIT and a certificate from FHM. After graduating from CSIT, these students can choose to obtain a bachelor's degree through a two-year course at FHM.

Named after prominent nuclear physicist Wu Chien-Shiung, whose hometown is in Taicang, CSIT will leverage FHM's professors and courses to promote high-quality vocational education. FHM was co-established by well-known German multinational corporations Siemens and Thyssenkrupp.

Known as a leader in Sino-German education, Taicang has a comprehensive training system that has fostered over 10,000 professional talents and senior management personnel to date.
