The Taizhou Campus of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine (NJUCM) welcomed its first students on Oct 12, two-and-a-half years after the Taizhou government and NJUCM agreeing to co-build the school, local media reported.
The campus, which is the first first-tier campus to be established in Taizhou, enrolled a total of 390 students in four majors and will strive to develop further with help from the university's main campus in Nanjing.
The school will strive to become a leading institution of higher learning and contribute to local industrial development in Taizhou.
"Taizhou plays a key role in boosting the development of Jiangsu's pharmaceuticals industry and I'm confident that the campus will infuse momentum into the rising industry," said Hu Gangmian, head of NJUCM.
A group of excellent freshmen were awarded scholarships as well as a Dictionary of Traditional Chinese Medicine compiled by the school at the opening ceremony.
