(english.jsjyt.edu.cn) Updated:2019-11-15

The Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education announced on Nov 13 that it has improved the province's student funding system and put it into pilot run.

A total of four schools were chosen for the pilot scheme, namely Soochow University, Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology, Jiangsu Normal University, and Changzhou Vocational Institute of Engineering.

Three districts, which are Liuhe district of Nanjing, Tongshan district of Xuzhou, and Xinghua (a county-level city) of Taizhou, were also chosen for pilot run.

Each school was required to engage 10 to 20 percent of its students whose families have financial difficulties, while each district was required to select 300 to 500 such families whose children were studying at primary, middle, senior high and secondary vocational schools.

The scheme will be carried out fully valuing the students' as well as their families' willingness.

Students can independently apply via a mobile phone, or submit their information to staff members. Their application will be valued through an upgraded scoring system. Other information concerning their obtained funding and family financial conditions will also be taken into consideration.
