Moon cakes a savory way to round out Mid-Autumn Festival

International students from Jiangsu University in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province pose with their handmade moon cakes on Sept 9 to celebrate the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival which falls on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month of the Chinese calendar. The festival marks a time for family reunion and the moon cakes, round in shape and sweet in taste, is the best snack to savor the festival with family members. The students, who come from countries such as Pakistan and Ghana, joined residents in the local Runzhou Shanlu Community for an enjoyable experience of moon cake making and sampling. The moon cakes were made in different colors and with fillings such as red bean, sesame, egg yolk and shredded pork. [Photo/IC]
