Italian students explore Grand Canal culture

A group of 21 students from the University of Salento in Italy embarked on a study trip to the Huaiyin Institute of Technology (HYIT) in Huaian city, Jiangsu province, from Dec 7 to 19 to explore local Grand Canal culture.
The vice president of the institute, Wang Dongdong, extended warm greetings to the visitors and briefed them on the school's history and development. Quarta Cosimo Alessandro, a doctoral tutor at the Italian school, expressed his expectations that the study trip would bring Italian students closer to Chinese people and culture.
The 12-day tour introduced Italian students to diversified aspects of China. They learned to speak Chinese, explored the cultures flourishing along the Grand Canal, took visits to scenic and historical sites, had a taste of Huaiyang cuisine, and tried out Chinese calligraphy and martial arts.
A student named Gabriel even regarded Huaian as "the best city for her".
