Silicon Lake College of Vocational Technology, a private higher learning institution located in Kunshan city, Jiangsu province, celebrated its 20th anniversary on Nov 18.
Established in 1998 by the Chinese-American educator and architect Steve Liang, with the approval of China's Ministry of Education, the school became the first higher learning institution in Kunshan city and was one of the earliest private colleges in Jiangsu province.
By training graduates with a wide range of vocational and entrepreneurial skills, the school has been, for the past two decades, offering concrete intellectual support to Kunshan, the first ranked among county-level cities in China for its overall strength.
Based on the motto of "Responsibility and Honor", the school has set up 10 departments, delivering diversified courses with a focus on practicality and competitiveness, equipping graduates with relevant skills to meet the demands of various industries.
Under China's latest 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20) for Social and Economic Development, the school has reaffirmed its objective to continue providing quality education courses to meet the needs of the ever-changing business and job market.
Its education mission is guided by principles involving philanthropy, globalization and application-based learning. The school will embark on its next important mission to become a full-fledged university with a people-oriented, eco-friendly and intelligent modern campus.
