The theme forum of the 2018 Soochow University International Day was held Oct 13. 

In a speech at the opening ceremony, Wang Chengbin, deputy director of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, said he thought globalization and internationalization are crucial trends in education development, and that education should cultivate more talents through creativity and international vision. 

Wang said he looked forward to Soochow University joining hands with the Jiangsu Education Services for International Exchange (JESIE) in seeking mutual improvement in internationalization and contributing more to national and regional economic and social development. 

At the forum, the university signed an agreement for cooperation with JESIE to advance educational internationalization. The two sides will work closely to strengthen domestic and overseas exchange programs, promote the cultivation of international talents, attract high-quality cooperative education projects, and expand the university's global presence. 

They will also join hands to develop the university into a first-class university in China and a high-level research institute with an international reputation.
