The 25th university Principal Cup table tennis competition of Jiangsu province was held at Nanjing University Oct 13-14, with 112 teams participating in the event organized by the province's department of education.
The table tennis competition is a traditional event among universities in Jiangsu and has been held for 24 years, receiving wide support from universities across the province.
The event aims to encourage university heads to take the lead in doing sports and attaching importance to physical education in universities, and to guide students and staff members to enhance sports awareness, improve physical fitness and follow a healthy lifestyle.
The event is also a way to establish a communication channel between universities in the province, to enhance mutual understanding and friendship, and therefore to push forward exchanges and cooperation between universities.
Eight universities and vocational schools won awards at the event.
Next year, the competition will be held at Suzhou University of Science and Technology.
