The 2018 TIIC-National Undergraduate IoT Design Contest was held at the 2018 World Internet of Things Expo (WIOT) in Wuxi, Jiangsu province on Sept 16.

Twelve teams of undergraduates selected from 108 teams nationwide competed to create the best internet of things (IoT) design.

After a morning of roadshows, a team from Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University walked away with the top award for their smart beekeeper design. Eight other teams were also awarded for their creativity.

Since March, 1,944 undergraduate teams from nearly 500 Chinese universities have taken part in the competition, with 108 making it to the Wuxi final.

The national IoT competition, sponsored by the teaching committee of computer science of China’s Ministry of Education and organized by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, has been held for the past five years and is well regarded among academics.
